Easy Breezy Skirts for Summer

Hey friends!  I hope you have been enjoying your week so far, wither way, it’s all down hill from here, right?  I have been enjoying my summer break so far, and just spending some time trying to catch up on housework, and preparing to start an outdoor project for our back deck.  Summer’s official start is on the 20th, and LC and I are leaving next week to take a trip to LA for our 10th wedding anniversary, and my mind is swimming with what to pack for the trip!  I love to wear skirts and dresses in the summer, they are just so darn easy, breezy, and comfortable for the hot months.  So today I thought it would be fun to show you some of my favorite skirts, and I will link to either the exact items, or items that are similar if what I’m wearing is no longer available.  Also, if you follow me on Instagram, you have probably noticed that I post a lot of outfit pictures, so I have added a new tab to the top of the blog titled, Shop My Looks.  You can click on any picture you see there, and it will take you to shoppable links where I have linked to exact or similar items that I am wearing in each look.  I hope you will enjoy this new addition to my blog!

But for today, let’s talk skirts, starting with this striped maxi skirt I’m wearing in these first pictures.  I just picked this up in the past couple of weeks from Old Navy (and it’s currently on sale for $16.97) because I love it and want to take it on our trip with me.  It is so comfortable, and still looks stylish and chic!  And I think so much goes with black and white stripes!  And let’s not forget my lace up ballerina flats that I adore and can’t stop grabbing to wear with everything!

In case you didn’t know, red is my favorite color, and I love wearing it and having pops of it around my home as well.  I purchased this skirt from American Apparel a couple of years ago, and I have never regretted it.  It is stretchy and comfortable, and you can dress it up or down.  It is quite possibly the perfect skirt!  It has a high waist and it is made of spandex jersey.  They no longer sell this color in this exact skirt, but you can click here to find the same exact skirt in a shorter length.  Or they have the exact skirt in a pencil skirt too.  And BTW, I make no commission off of referring you to these skirts- American Apparel doesn’t participate in affiliate sales, but I want to tell you about them because I just think they are fabulous quality, fit and comfy!  Also, this store is my daughter’s favorite store in the world!

Did you notice my sandals?  Love them or hate them?  I have to say I truly love them so much!  And wanna know a secret?  I owned these exact same sandals as a child!  By the exact same company!  When I saw these, I had to have a pair, and I had to have them in red, because that is the color I owned as a child, although they come in 16 colors.  This will make my third summer wearing these, and I have to say they are so cool and so comfortable, and yes!  You can wear them in the water, hence the name!  They sell them in toddler sizes right up to adult, and for the adult sizes they are $39.95.  and I’m telling you one thing right now.  I’m never, ever getting rid of these!  As for the floral linen Tshirt I am wearing, I purchased it at Gabriel Brothers’ so no link back to it.

Since I am celebrating skirts today, I thought I would share some other skirts I have already shown on the blog, and you can click the source under each picture to be taken to the original post.

This Sidewalk Skirt from JCrew is a few years old, but it must be pretty popular because they still sell it at JCrew Factory

I hope you enjoyed this nod to the skirt today!  They are so comfortable and much more forgiving to your body than shorts.  And you can dress them both up and down, so I just love them, and you will find me wearing them quite a bit during the summer months.  I am currently dreaming up a post for some summer fashion, so hopefully I will be sharing it with you next week!  Before I go, did you see yesterdays Totally Terrific Tuesday post?  I just joined this fabulous weekly party as a cohost, and this post will go live every Monday night.  So I would love it if you would check it out and either link up yourself, or just peruse the awesome things that will be linked at the party each week!  I’m off to spend the rest of the day doing laundry and catching up on housework!  Happy hump day!
