Spring Refresh in Our Master Bedroom

Olivia Bird Floral Pillow Shams-Pottery Barn

Hey friends!  I was planning on sharing part one of my Spring home tour with you this morning, but I am having difficulty accessing the pictures that I edited and saved to my computer.  The only ones (out of 165 photos) that I can access are the ones I took in my bedroom.  We think the program I use to edit photos may have a virus or something.  So I decided to share some Fresh Spring updates in our bedroom with you, and hopefully I will be able to get this issue resolved so that I don't have to start from scratch and re-edit all of those pictures!  I made just a few changes in our master bedroom, and it has been over a year since I have shown our bedroom on the blog, so I hope you enjoy today!

I purchased this cream and tan bedding for our bed a couple of years ago for a huge bargain (you can read about it here).  One thing I love about this bedding, besides the great quality of it, is the fact that it is neutral, so it is easy to change out pillows and additional blankets at the foot of the bed to give it a quick refresh.  And I did just that recently.  I have been really craving something floral in our bedroom, and when I found these gorgeous Olivia Bird floral pillow shams on clearance at Pottery Barn for $14.99 each recently, I knew they would go perfectly on my bed!

When I received them in the mail, I loved them even more than I did on the website.  The colors and the pattern are just exactly what I was looking for.  They remind me of a bedding set that I owned back in the mid 90's.  It was a beautiful pattern, and I loved it.  As a matter of fact, I truly wish that I had never gotten rid of it.  I also love the beautiful bird on them.  They are such good quality too. You insert the pillows by unbuttoning the shams at the bottom, and the buttons are completely hidden, so you can turn these shams over and there is a completely different pattern on the back, so they are reversible!  I had bought the blue throw at Goodwill over the winter, and the blue on the bird is the exact same color as this blue throw.

I also changed out the artwork over each of my nightstands.  Actually the nightstand on the right is an antique desk given to me when I was 17 years old by my grandmother, and I will never part with it. The new floral artwork are free watercolor printables that I found over at the lovely blog, On Sutton Place.  You can print them out for free too, just click on the link I provided!  I love to use free printable for art in my home!  I love how much lighter and brighter this wall in our bedroom looks with these florals.  There is actually a third watercolor printable, but I only printed two.  I am loving them so much, though, that I want to print out the third one, purchase another frame to match the two I have, remove the metal bowl from over the bed, and place all three frames over my bed.  What do you think of that idea?  I bought these frames at Walmart a while back, and I went to purchase another, and of course they no longer sell it, so I am hoping to find a matching one somewhere, because I really like them and hate to purchase three brand new frames.

Just so you know, I am hating the paint color on my walls, but it is the color I chose when we moved in.  I never have liked it, but I kept on painting it anyway, and we were too rushed to worry about it. I was just glad to have freshly painted walls before we had to move all of our heavy furniture into the room.  And I have been wishing it were a different color ever since.  Maybe someday I will repaint it, but it won't be anytime soon.  I have made a rule for myself not to repaint anything in this house until every room has been painted at least once.  And I'm not there yet.  I still have three rooms to go!  I am also itching to paint this bed white.  Any thoughts you have on that idea would be greatly appreciated.  Right now it's just a thought, not a full fledged plan.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I will be on a little break from blogging until I have my computer problem fixed.  If it is a simple fix, I could be back to it on Friday as normal, but if it is more complicated it could be next week before I get to write another post.  Have a great Thursday!
