Let’s Talk About Your Bum and Horses

And the senior prom…

Today we are going talk a little bit about Prom, and a little bit about the Kentucky Derby, because both are big events that take a lot of getting ready, and both are in the Spring!  And I am also going to tell you how you can enter to win a year’s supply of Cottonelle products with the Cottonelle Great Finish Sweepstakes!  Now, who wouldn’t love that?  With six people living in our home, we go through a lot of toilet paper, a lot! And not just toilet paper, but flushable cleansing cloths, which we keep a supply of in each of our three bathrooms.  I can’t imagine living without them!

You may have seen me mention that Miss 18 Year Old recently attended her senior prom.  Well, today I wanted to share her big night with you!  I shared her Junior Prom with you around this time last year, and those images are some of my most pinned images!  School dances are some of the biggest events in a teen girls life, and maybe ever!  There is a lot that goes into getting ready for the big event, so I thought I would share five trillion some pictures of her and Our Swedish Daughter, and their dates and friends, and talk to you a little about what goes into getting ready for a big event.  Somebody stop me!  I made some cool collages so that you wouldn’t have to scroll and scroll to look at all of the pictures.  This first collage is of my daughter.  This was her first time wearing red, my favorite color!  I love everything about her look, from the dress to the makeup to the hair.  Perfection!  The brand of her red dress is Tarik Ediz.

The preparations for a big event like this begin months in advance with choosing a dress.  We have bought almost every dress from a local boutique called Oliverio’s Bridal and Prom Boutique.  They are always very good to us there.  The dress usually needs fitted, and then the search is on for jewelry and shoes.  My daughter chose neutral sling back pumps, and Our Swedish daughter chose sparkly silver platform pumps.  This next collage is Our Swedish Daughter in this gorgeous black velvet gown.  I am not sure of the brand, but if you ask me in the comments, I am sure I can find out.

Of course, getting a pedicure and a manicure is part of it, and she usually does that a couple of days before the day of the dance.  On the day of the dance, she usually spends the entire day getting ready.  But she doesn’t just get herself ready.  She usually does hair and/or makeup for at least 2-3 of her friends.  So there is a constant flow in and out of our home of girls she is working on.  She is kind of the hair and makeup guru of her group of friends.  This year, a girl from another high school came over and had her hair and makeup done as well!  On a different day, of course!

The day starts with her taking a shower and getting all fresh and clean.  Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths and Toilet Paper help you feel fresh and clean, on any ordinary day, but especially on big events!
The Cottonelle® Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Cloths feature SafeFlush Technology, so they not only offer you a confident clean but also start to break down immediately after flushing.

Miss 18 Year Old did her own hair and makeup and Our Swedish Daughter’s hair and makeup.  Here is a collage of each of their hair styles.  The blonde hair style was a fairly simple half up/half down, very pretty and exactly what she wanted!  As for my daughter’s, I wish I could tell you how she did it, because it was absolutely gorgeous, but only she could tell you that.  I keep asking her to make some tutorial videos for me to share with my reader’s but she hasn’t had the time to actually do it lately.  However, if you live locally, she would be willing to do pretty much anyone’s hair!

After the hair comes the makeup.  Both girls opted to do a fairly natural look for this event, because both had pretty dramatic dresses.  In my opinion, if you have a stand out dress, you don’t need your makeup to stand out as much.  If you have a more simply or understated dress, then you can go more bold with your makeup.  I love this neutral makeup look on both of the girls.  But even with a neutral makeup look, she always takes extra care applying it perfectly, and she always wears false eyelashes to big events.  She is a pro at applying them.  They make me crazy!

A thick and durable tissue like Cottonelle's Clean Care toilet tissue is a must have while you're getting ready. You can use it for wiping down your makeup products, cleaning up your makeup area and blotting your lipstick. (I always apply my lip liner, then my lipstick, and then I blot it really well, and lastly I add some complimentary lip gloss.)  It is also great to blot your makeup brushes on if you are switching colors.  Plus, once you're finished, you're safe to flush or throw away because all Cottonelle products are flushable and septic-safe.  another great use for Cottonelle Toilet tissue, if you are wearing a strapless dress, blouse, or a tank – always apply your anti-perspirant after you have your clothes on, and then I just tuck some of the toilet tissue down into the fabric under my arms so that deodorant doesn’t get all over my clothing.  It works like a charm!

I didn’t get a shot of the hand bags each of them carried, but they were stocked with lipstick, concealer, bobby pins, safety pins, cash, probably gum or mints, and some Cottonelle Fresh Care flushable cleansing cloths to keep them feeling fresh and clean while they danced the night away!

This is a collage of each of their dates!  Both ended up wearing red accents!  Miss 17 Year Old had the honor of being selected to the Prom Court this year, so it was a special night for her, and her last school dance ever, sniff sniff.  The prom court did a choreographed dance at the prom, and then they crowned the queen by a random drawing, so parents were invited to attend (just that part).  I am not gonna lie, I left there in tears.  I am just so sad that this time of her life is coming to an end.  But so happy that we got to share her senior year, and prom, with our Swedish daughter.  It was an experience I am sure she will never forget!

Prom isn’t the only big event that happens in the spring, let’s talk about the Kentucky Derby!  They might not dress up quite the same way for the Kentucky Derby that they do for prom, but it is just as much of a big event that takes a lot of planning and preparation as well.  I have never been, have you?  I would absolutely love to go one of these days and dress up in an adorable sun dress, with a big hat, sunglasses, and jewelry.  I can just picture it now, it sounds like such fun!  Of course I would be drinking a mint julep!  I could not resist making a fashion board showing what I would wear if I were attending this year!  BTW, I only realized after I put this whole post together and previewed it that my derby outfit is the same color theme as the prom colors!  I LOVE it when that happens!

Cottonelle is upping the ante at this year’s Kentucky Derby and launching “The Cottonelle Great Finish,” a giveaway that will reward Americans with a year supply of Cottonelle products should the No. 1 and No. 2 positioned racehorses place in that order during the race.
