Backsplash Sneak Peek

I have not had a lot of DIY projects to show you lately, but it is because I have been working on a project that is very tedious and is taking forever!  I have mentioned here and here that I was planning a paint treatment for my backsplash.  I divided it up into5 sections to make it a little easier, and now that I have two sections done, I have to show you a sneak peek.  I am thrilled with the results!  Check out how they are turning out!

Update:  This backsplash is now completely finished!  To see the full results, click here!

Here are a couple of pictures to show you the process.

And here is another picture of one of the finished sections.

More progress...

This has been a long and drawn out process.  For one, I work full time and have three kids, so spare time is often scarce around here.  Number two.  It.  Takes.  A.  Long.  Time.  The first section took 3-4 hours, and the next larger section took about 7 hours.  There is a lot of measuring, leveling, and taping off before the actual paint.  the painting is actually the quickest part of the entire process!

I got the idea to do this backsplash form Beth and Nick.  I did not use the same process though.  I will show you a complete tutorial after I have the project completed.  And who knows how long that is going to be.  I have a birthday next week for Mr. 12 Year Old, and a birthday at the beginning of April for Miss 16 Year Old.

So what do you think of my backsplash so far?  I would love to hear your opinion!  This is a very cheap alternative to actual tiles.  I am loving the improvement in my kitchen.  It is tons of work, but I know it will be worth it in the end.  I will be back tomorrow to show you some spring decor I worked on yesterday during what I hope will be our last snow day of this school year.  You can see some beautiful pictures of what we woke up to yesterday here.
